Fred Baker

Lead Pastor

Fred Baker

As Lead Pastor, Fred oversees the “grow” value of the church by providing visionary leadership, congregation care, and preaching. His greatest joy is seeing people transformed by the good news Jesus offers. Fred and his wife Stacey are originally from Texas and have two boys, Luke and Seth. Fred did his graduate work at Dallas Theological Seminary, where he focused on Biblical Counseling. The Bakers then moved to Jackson, Tennessee, where Fred worked as the Community Pastor, Children’s Pastor, and Singles Group Leader and handled pastoral care through counseling (although he did not do all of them at the same time – mostly). In 2005, while visiting Asheville, Fred felt the Lord’s leading to plant a church here. That started a three-year process of meeting with the elders at the church in Jackson and meeting with churches here in Asheville to discern if this city needed another church. With much confirmation, support, and encouragement, the Baker family moved to Asheville in 2008. Fellowship Asheville started with 10 folks, and ever since that first time together, God has been doing something that only He can do. God has pulled a group of people fueled by the gospel to love each other and love this city. It sure is fun! Fred’s wife Stacey owns her own travel agency, Dogwood Travel. Fred and Stacey love traveling together almost as much as they love just being at home together, and they love good food shared with great people.
