Foul Ball

Have you ever been watching baseball, the pitcher throws, the batter swings, and you hear the glorious sound of a solid hit? The wooden bat has this beautiful resonance as the ball flies high. The crowd stands up, watching without breathing. Could this be the winning home run? Celebration starts. The ball starts to descend. As it falls, it lands in foul territory. Through the speakers, you hear those awful words, “Foul ball!”

This happens in baseball and in life all the time. What we think is a home run turns out to be a foul ball. Through this series in Ecclesiastes, we’ll discover how to avoid these fouls and how to recover from them.
